Bill Defines Campus Police as Law Enforcement Officers

House Bill 771, introduced by Delegate Steve Landes, R-Verona, would expand the definition of law enforcement officers to include campus police officers at both public and private colleges.

NOVA Police Basketball Tournament a Slam Dunk

The NOVA Police department held their annual basketball tournament at the Annandale campus this February in which three teams competed. NOVA Police, NOVA faculty, and NOVA students. According to Officer Tony Ong, “the students beat the faculty 21-18. Both the faculty and Police came in second while the students won it again!”

Pregnancy and Parenting Center to Offer Services

As adults getting an education, NOVA students come in a variety of ages and many have or are starting families. In order to serve these students, the new Office of Pregnant and Parenting Student Support (OPPSS), which is based in the Medical Campus in Springfield, will begin making visits to the other five NOVA campuses.

Men Basketballers Vanquish Top VCCS Foes

The Northern Virginia Community College men’s basketball team continued its strong recent performances, winning eight of its last 10 games, including all seven of its Virginia Community College System games. The VCCS wins included beating its top two VCCS competitors a total of three times.

President Expresses Support for Community Colleges

Obama spoke of community colleges becoming community career centers where people can learn the skills that businesses are looking for today. He told the crowd that there are jobs available and many people who are unemployed, but businesses can’t always find workers with the right skills to do those jobs, many of which are in the science and technology industries.
