About

The NOVA Fortnightly is the new college-wide, student-run newspaper of the Northern Virginia Community College.

We’re here to cover anything that impacts our student body, whether it happens on campus or off, providing news and sharing opinions on world issues and local entertainment options. Our staff represents a diverse selection of the student body as a whole, representing a variety of ages, origins, backgrounds, and aspirations. Some of us are new to journalism, others of us are seasoned veterans, but what we all have in common is a desire to inform and to share your thoughts, both online and on paper.

From our Downtime Section, which publishes poetry and creative writing penned by students, to our Thoughts section, which serves as an open forum to present and discuss pressing issues, to comments on articles on the website, we’re here to invoke and facilitate discussion and debate.

We also aim to provide coverage of issues and events from all six NOVA campuses and the communities they serve, and offer balanced commentary on politics that impact those communities and the student body, as well as news and reviews on the local entertainment scene.

If you’re aware of something that other students might be interested in, be it news, performing arts, or an issue of concern, let us know!

By the way, we’re looking for NOVA students to join our diverse staff of reporters, editors, photographers, and designers. If you have an interest in any of these fields, or a desire to learn, visit our contribute page.

We hope you enjoy our issue of our publication, and thank you for reading. Stay tuned!
