Press Release

The Oral Communication Center recently opened its doors to serve Annandale campus students and faculty. Part of the Learning and Technology Resources division, the OCC’s mission is to enable student success through improved speaking and presentation skills across disciplines.

NOVA students can work with trained speech consultants to develop and refine their skills for individual and group presentations. The OCC, housed in the McDiarmid Building, room CM 363, currently offers the following services:

– Personalized Consultation, such as individualized, one-on-one assistance with all aspects of the oral presentation process. The consultants assist students of all ability levels in all courses and disciplines.

– Feedback Consultation, including scheduled time with a degreed communications professional to view a live presentation or review a recorded session and discuss specific feedback and suggestions for improvement.

The center also has an audio, video and text library with a growing collection of public-speaking and presentation resources. In addition, it contains recording and other equipment that the staff can help students use in the center to record their presentations.

The OCC is also coordinating with campus faculty across various disciplines to identify further communication needs of the students, and plans are underway to offer both online consultations and group workshops in the future.

The OCC is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

To set up an appointment, contact them at occ@nvcc.edu.

You actually make it seem really easy along with your presentation but
I in finding this topic to be really something which I believe
I would by no means understand. It sort of feels too complex and extremely
huge for me. I am having a look ahead in your next put up, I
will attempt to get the dangle of it!
