McClellan Named Living Legend

Dr. Jimmie R. McClellan, the dean of liberal arts at the Alexandria campus of Northern Virginia Community College, was proclaimed a Living Legend in the City of Alexandria for his work in human rights, education and other work in the community. He will be honored at a reception in the Madison Building of the Patent & Trademark Office on March 22.
Senator Mark Warner (D-Va.) is expected to be in attendance along with city officials.

McClellan’s portrait will hang in City Hall. He will also be a guest of honor at the Friendship Veterans Volunteer Fire Engine Association, a city institution since 1774.

In addition, he will ride in the George Washington Day Parade, which is scheduled for Feb. 20 at 1 p.m.

McClellan serves as faculty advisor to the college-wide newspaper, NOVA Fortnightly.
