Journey to Wonderland

20 June 2011 No Comment

Homeschool Theatre Troupe gears up for its fifteenth show, a non-musical production of Alice in Wonderland. The script was adapted by director Julie Little from the original Lewis Carroll works Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There.

Rollicking fun is guaranteed as the audience learns with Alice the intricacies of living backwards while supervising the Tweedle brothers’ impending fight, reciting poetry with Humpty Dumpty, clapping along to the Lobster Quadrille and cheering on some flamingo croquet. Such familiar characters as the Queen of Hearts, the Cheshire Cat, the March Hare and the Mad Hatter make their appearance, as well as rarely-seen ones such as the Lion and the Unicorn.

Homeschool Theatre Troupe has been in existence since 2004, performing great works of literature such as A Tale of Two Cities (2000), The Odyssey (2000), The Canterbury Tales (2009) and, most recently, A Christmas Carol (2010).

Though only a few actors remain from the first play, HTT has grown to include more than 50 participants, all between the ages of 10 and 18.

A free performance will be held at Manassas campus as part of the Summer Evenings Under the Stars summer program there. This performance will be on June 25 at 7:30 p.m., at the Mary Louise Jackson Amphitheater.
