Higher Education Council Meets This Week
The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia will hold meetings of its executive, resources and planning and academic affairs committees on Monday, March 21. They will take place at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science in Gloucester Point and commence at 1 p.m.
Members will discuss proposed new programs at Virginia Tech and George Mason University.
After the meeting, members will tour the facility and have dinner at the College of William & Mary.
The council will hold its regular business meeting from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on Tuesday, March 22, at the College of William & Mary in the Matoaka Woods conference room.
Following remarks by Taylor Reveley, president of the College of William & Mary, SCHEV Director Peter Blake will give his report.
The agenda also includes updates on progress toward the initiatives of The Virginia Plan for Higher Education, the Commonwealth’s strategic plan for postsecondary education adopted by the council.

SCHEV is the Commonwealth’s coordinating body for Virginia’s system of higher education. The agency provides policy guidance and budget recommendations to the governor and General Assembly, and is a resource for information on higher education issues. With The Virginia Plan for Higher Education, its strategic plan, SCHEV aims to make Virginia the best-educated state in the nation by 2030.
