Include Mental Health in MLK’s “Dream,” says Community College Student

On Jan. 18, students at Lord Fairfax Community College’s Fauquier campus spoke about their interpretation of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision.
A speech contest invited contestants to deliver three- to five-minute speeches on the topic of King’s famous “I Have a Dream” address. Helen Bowerman, the winner, cast King’s vision in the context of greater empathy and care for people with mental illnesses.
