Council to Meet with Public College Leaders
The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia will hold its annual joint meeting with the Council of Presidents on Monday, Sept. 21 at 3 p.m., at Virginia State University’s Gateway Dining Event Center in Petersburg. The agenda includes a discussion of The Virginia Plan for Higher Education, the Commonwealth’s strategic plan for postsecondary education adopted by Council. Also on the agenda for Monday, Council will discuss SCHEV’s preliminary recommendations for the next biennial budget.
On Tuesday, Sept. 22, the council will hold its regular business meeting, which begins at 9 a.m., also at VSU’s Gateway Dining Event Center. Following remarks by Interim President Pamela Hammond, Council will act on specific initiatives of the Virginia Plan, which include aligning resources among K12, community colleges and universities.
SCHEV is the Commonwealth’s coordinating body for Virginia’s system of higher education. The agency provides policy guidance and budget recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly, and is a resource for information on higher education issues.
