NOVA Launches LiveSafe Mobile App For Campus Safety
Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) today announced the launch of a new mobile safety app that will provide students, faculty and staff with a new way of getting in touch with College law enforcement authorities. Called LiveSafe, the mobile application helps build safer campuses by providing a fast and efficient channel of communication between members of the NOVA community and campus safety officials. In NOVA’s commitment to the safety and well-being of its community, the app is being provided as a free download to students, faculty, staff, parents and community members.
“Our goal is to provide the entire NOVA community with the best tools to keep everyone safe and informed. We are excited to introduce this new channel of communication that will go a long way to enhancing further student and community safety,” said NOVA Chief of Police Daniel Dusseau.
Leveraging the latest in smartphone technology, LiveSafe is transforming the way people respond to threats and safety emergencies. The app’s user-friendly interface makes it easy for people to share information anonymously, if they wish. By having access to the latest safety information, NOVA hopes to empower the entire college community with the tools to keep themselves and the College safe.
LiveSafe allows members of the community to contact the college police department discreetly, and risk-free. Through iPhone and Android devices, users will have the ability to report GPS-tagged information with added picture, video, and audio clips. Additionally, campus authorities are able to provide critical safety information to the college community.
Members of the college community, including students, staff, faculty and parents are encouraged to download the free app through the iTunes or Google Play stores for their iPhone and Android devices. Type in “LiveSafe” and download the app with the blue shield.
