Student Arrested for Stealing Computers From Classrooms
Computers were stolen from several unattended classrooms at the Annandale campus of Northern Virginia Community College earlier this semester. The stolen computers all belonged to the college.
During the investigation, NOVA Police “got a hit on two computers at a pawn shop.” The police found out who sold the computers to the shop and it led to a NOVA student, said NOVA’s Public Information Officer, Jennifer Gonzalez.
Clarence Sanders was arrested Sept.16 and taken to the Fairfax County Jail. He is being held without bail on three counts of grand larceny and four counts of selling stolen property, according to 1st Lt. Steve Elbert of the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office.
Sanders has been enrolled at NOVA since the spring semester of 2012. He had been studying air conditioning and refrigeration, according to Gonzalez.
When asked if the college had or was going to dismiss Sanders from the school, Gonzalez replied: “Because this is still an ongoing investigation, the college has not determined his status.”
Six of the eight computers have been recovered. Anyone with information about the other two should contact NOVA Police at 703-764-5000.
