Cox Farms eagerly awaits the start of its fall festival and “Fields of Fear” season later this month.

The D.C.-area’s most famous fall festival will open its gate on Sept. 21 for Preview Weekend, inviting kids to happily descend on a slew of exciting new features added to the 90-acre playground. The most popular slide, the 144-ft-long Dino Slide, had a top-to-bottom makeover, from completely refinishing all six slide lanes to renovating the entry path to the slide.

“Even just walking up to the slide, Dino is cooler than ever! The slide is by far faster than it has ever been, even faster than it was when it first opened here in 2006,” says Mountain Team Captain Becky Thompson.

Cox Farms is continuing its reduced ticket prices on the majority of fall festival weekends, offering a $14 ticket during Preview, Opening, Halloween and Pumpkin Madness weekends (Sept. 21, 22, 28 and 29; Oct. 26, 27; and Nov. 2, 3). The ticket cost on prime weekends (middle weekends of October) will remain the same as 2012, at $17 per person on these most popular days. Weekdays remain unchanged at $9 per person.

“The hope is that folks looking to save a few dollars will opt to come on our regular weekends, when the crowds are smaller and admission is lower,” says Co-Farmer-in-Chief Lucas Cox. Still, in order to ensure a phenomenal visit for all visitors, Cox Farms kicks off the Fall 2013 season with the biggest team ever, with over 430 employees. The farm is bustling with excitement as new employees begin their training and more experienced Cox Farmers put the finishing touches on the festival grounds.

Cox Farms is proud to announce two Public Servants Weekends for 2013!

“Our first ever Public Servants Weekend in 2012 was such a huge success that we decided to expand to two weekends in 2013, Opening Weekend and Pumpkin Madness Weekend,” said Co-Farmer-in-Chief Aaron Cox.

To support local public servants, Cox Farms offers a $5 discount on up to four tickets to public servants during Opening Weekend (Sept. 28-29) and Pumpkin Madness Weekend (Nov. 2-3). Government employees, educators, first responders, law enforcement, nurses and members of the military can save $5 by presenting a valid badge or identification.

Cox Farms members and Fear Fanatics receive additional discounts and offers. Sign-up is available through the website as is additional information about perks of the program.

In addition to the Dino Slide renovation, the festival grounds are teeming with new additions. Visitors will first notice the new Tickets building out front, which will make arrival much more efficient; that means the fun starts sooner! We acquired a beautiful antique fire truck and did what we do best- turned it into a slide!

Fields of Fear emerges again on Fridays and Saturdays in 2013, boasting over a half-mile of haunted Cornightmare trail, Darkside Hayride: Zombie Zoo, and thrilling Firegrounds hangout with giant torchlit slide, bonfires, tasty food and more games than ever.

Cox Farms’ fall festival came create a truly wonderful day for people looking for a fun outing.
