New Store Opens Locally
Years ago, Spanx founder Sara Blakely was getting ready for a party when she realized she didn’t have the right undergarment to provide a blemish-free look under white pants. Armed with scissors, she cut the feet off her control top pantyhose and the Spanx revolution began.
Now the company has opened its first standalone retail store in Tysons Corner Center in McLean, Va. The approximately 1200-square-foot boutique opened Nov. 2.
Tysons Corner is one of a series of openings in upscale shopping centers scheduled.
Spanx stores will roll out the red carpet to everyone who enters, giving fans the ability to touch, feel and try a wide assortment of SPANX product while receiving the VIP treatment from the expert Transformation Team.
“We want to provide fans with an intuitive, interactive way to shop all of our products, exceptional service and a fun, empowering experience,” said Spanx Founder Sara Blakely. “The Spanx store will be a place where everybody knows your name and your bra size.”
A cheer squad will greet customers as they enter, making them feel like a star, and the SPANX Transformation Team—experts with super shaping powers—will be equipped with unmatched product knowledge to offer supreme support. Whether you stop in for a tour around the Tower of Power to find the perfect pair of tights, or give your browsing a boost by way of uplifting Spanx-isms, the space is celebratory, empowering and easy to shop from top to bottom.
“With a growing product collection and fan base, our own dedicated space was inevitable,” says Spanx CEO Laurie Ann Goldman. “We knew that Tysons Corner was the perfect fit, and after signing the lease were happy to learn that it was home to the first Apple store — not bad retail karma!”
Inspired by the innovative products it houses and the unique brand personality it brings to life, the space was designed with comfort, function and fun in mind. Splashes of Spanx red, lucite finishes and high-gloss lacquer evoke high energy and high fashion, while warm feminine furnishings create a chic, cozy setting that helps women find the right compression zone without leaving their comfort zone. Spacious, yet intimate fitting rooms with flattering lighting make baring it all bearable.
