NOVA’s Assistant Police Chief Mourned
Assistant Police Chief Gerald “Jerry” Tolson passed away from cancer Nov. 19. A college spokeswoman said Tolson recently visited a doctor was informed he had about a week to live.
His obituary reads as follows:
Gerald Willard “Jerry” Tolson, 54, of Fredericksburg died Monday, Nov. 19, 2012.
Jerry was the Assistant Chief for Northern Virginia Community College Police Department. Jerry touched the lives of many and leaves behind a very distinguished career in Law Enforcement. Jerry was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Fredericksburg.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Rebecca “Kathy” Tolson; children Caitlin Marie, Rebecca Lauren and Gavin James Tolson; brother Willie Tolson (Dottie); sisters Barbara Zelek (Ed), Ora Lee Tolson, Elaine Brundage, Anna Crousore (Chris), Nancy Ruble (Tom) and Kim Tolson; and several nieces and nephews.
A service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26 at First Mount Zion Baptist Church, 16622 Dumfries Rd., Dumfries, VA 22025.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jerry Tolson Memorial Fund, c/o NVCCEF, 7630 Little River Turnpike, Suite 817, Annandale, VA 22003.

It was very nice from family, and friends of Assistant Police Chief Gerald “Jerry” Tolson where on a church that date incident on Va. 234 near Dumfries to mourn the passing and honor the life of an assistant police chief.
