Other news articles have said that the fact the presidential and vice presidential candidates have come to Virginia so many times underscores the importance of the state to this election. Well, Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan, who is from Wisconsin, is flying in to Richmond today – Election Day of all days.

If you didn’t already believe the GOP was fighting for the Commonwealth and its electoral votes, you have to now.

Virginia is vital. Perhaps that should be the new state motto. It’s vital to business (Number One in the nation for running a business, according to CNBC and Forbes). And it’s vital to the election of the most powerful person in the country. (Heck, it’s even ranked as having the Number One party school in the nation – the University of Virginia – according to Playboy.)

Its importance may partially be because of its proximity to the nation’s capital and because it’s considered the cornerstone of American history.

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney campaigned in Fairfax yesterday. Likewise, Vice President Joe Biden held a rally in Sterling yesterday and a rally-concert with musician John Mellencamp in Richmond last night.

If you want to see Congressman Ryan one last time before the votes are in, he will be flying in to Richmond International Airport at around 3 p.m. He won’t be there long, so it’s best to get there early in case he does.

The address is: Continental Express Hangar, Richmond International Airport, 5555 Fox Road, Richmond, Va., 23250.

And be sure to vote in your district before polls close at 7 p.m.
