PTK at Manassas Collects Diapers for Underprivileged Families
The Alpha Iota Zeta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society recently held a diaper drive for underprivileged families and collected more items than any other Virginia chapter. The chapter from the Manassas campus of Northern Virginia Community College collected 786 diapers and wipes which were donated to the Consortium for Infant and Child Health at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
The fundraiser was conducted as part of the Phi Theta Kappa Virginia Regional Honors in Action Academy held in Virginia Beach Oct. 4 to Oct. 7. The Manassas campus chapter serves as Virginia State Secretary for the honor society.
Headquartered in Jackson, Miss., Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is the largest honor society in higher education with 1,280 chapters on college campuses in every U.S. state, plus Canada, Germany, Republic of Palau, Peru, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, British Virgin Islands, United Arab Emirates and U.S. territorial possessions. More than 2.5 million students have been inducted since its founding in 1918, with approximately 135,000 students inducted annually.
