For the second time, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is going to campaign in Virginia on the same day as President Barack Obama. No face-to-face throwdowns though. Romney will be in southwest Virginia while Obama will appear in Northern Virginia.

Romney will hold a coal country event at Carter Machinery in Abingdon on Friday, Oct. 5. Carter Machinery is located at 18471 Spring Creek Road in Abingdon. Doors are slated to open at 9 a.m., and the program will begin at 11:35 a.m.

That same day, Obama will appear at a grassroots rally at George Mason University in Fairfax. The event will take place in the Center for the Arts Concert Hall at 10:45 a.m. Doors open at 8:30 a.m.

According to campaign sources, Obama plans to discuss the different visions he and Romney have of how to grow the economy, create middle-class jobs and restore middle-class economic security. The president will also encourage supporters to register to vote and to vote early.

In Virginia, the deadline to register to vote is Oct. 15. Voters can vote by mail until Nov. 3.

Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan will also attend a rally at Augusta Expoland in Fishersville, Va., on Thursday, Oct. 4 where they will be joined by country singer Trace Adkins.

Fishersville is west of Charlottesville. Augusta Expoland is located at 277 Expo Road. Doors will open at 4 p.m., and the program will start at 6:45 p.m.
