Anne Holton campaigned on behalf of her husband, Tim Kaine, in Centreville on Oct. 3, where she met with voters at Cox Farms Fall Festival to discuss Kaine’s strong grassroots support and encourage them to get involved in the campaign.

“With a race as close as Tim’s, it’s incredibly important that each and every one of you gets involved and gets out to vote in November,” said Holton at the fall festival in Centreville. “Outside groups have spent more than $13 million in false, negative ads against Tim, but your grassroots support and conversations with your friends and neighbors about Tim will make the difference on Election Day.”

Later, Holton continued her statewide tour of colleges and community colleges with a tour of the Reston Center of Northern Virginia Community College, where she shared Kaine’s strategies to improve Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) curriculum, workforce training, and career and technical education. Holton also emphasized Kaine’s commitment to investing in education from pre-K to higher education and workforce development. During his term, Kaine worked with members of both parties to pass a record higher education bond package, which funded new equipment, classrooms, and facilities at colleges and community colleges across Virginia.

“Tim served as governor during the worst recession in 70 years, and he had to make some difficult choices to keep our budget balanced,” Holton said in Reston. “But while he cut more than $5 billion in spending — including cuts to his own salary — he still managed to make investments in key areas like pre-k, higher education, and career and technical education. As our next Senator, I am confident Tim will break through the Washington gridlock to increase and improve educational opportunities for all Virginians.”

Later this evening, Holton will attend an Obama for America-Virginia presidential debate watch party and phone bank in Henrico to thank supporters and volunteers and watch the first presidential debate.

Previous stops on Holton’s college tour across Virginia include visits to Tidewater Community College (Virginia Beach Campus), Norfolk State University, George Mason University, Northern Virginia Community College (Woodbridge Campus), Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, Northern Virginia Community College (Annandale Campus), Rappahannock Community College, Paul D. Camp Community College, John Tyler Community College, the College of William and Mary, Richard Bland College, Virginia Western Community College, Virginia State University, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College (Parham Campus), Thomas Nelson Community College and Christopher Newport University.
