NOVA Community Chorus Performs Verdi’s Requiem

12 March 2011 One Comment

Are you looking for something fun to do over spring break? Do you enjoy experiencing classical music in a live setting? Then come to the NOVA Community Chorus’ performance of Verdi’s Requiem, and experience the full range of emotion that a composer can put forth through the voices of a gifted chorus. If you’ve never heard Verdi’s Requiem, come prepared to be rocked by this masterpiece, as it can go from quite peaceful and subdued to at once intense and thrilling.  According to the New York Times, George Bernard Shaw once said that Verdi’s Requiem would be more enduring than any of his own operas.

The NOVA Community Chorus, along with the Alexandria Symphony, will be performing the Requiem at the Alexandria campus’ Schlesinger Center at 3 p.m. on March 12, as well as at 8 p.m. on March 13. ASO conductor Kim Allen Kluge will conduct the Requiem.  The NOVA Community Chorus’ 110 members will also be singing with three other regional choruses.  In total there will be 300 voices performing this powerful choral-orchestral piece, topping off spring break with a grand finale!  For tickets call 703-548-0885 or email alex@alexsym.org
