Northern Virginia Community College has joined 83 other community colleges across the nation as a recipient of a grant received through the Office of the National Coordinator, Department of Health and Human Services to provide expanded Health Information Technology training in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. All tuition, required text books and associated fees are paid in full for qualified applicants.

The Six Workforce Roles Training Program is designed to enhance and provide qualified trainees the skills and competencies needed in the area of information technology and healthcare.

This training program is designed so students successfully complete their training in six months or sooner followed by a competency exam. Classes are offered in the evening at NOVA’s Medical Education campus in Springfield and online. Students who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate of completion and college credits.

The grant allows NOVA to provide free training for individuals in six workforce roles in: practice and information management redesign specialists, clinician/practitioner consultant, implementation support specialist, implementation manager, technical/software support staff and electronic trainer.

The next cohort group starts in March. For further information regarding this training and how to apply, contact Anya Norman at 703-822-0061 or Toni Mariani at 703-822-0017.
