Are you connected to NOVA? NOVA wants to make sure students are informed about the latest news and events happening all around the college through the official NOVA social media sites: NOVAaccess on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and LinkedIn.

On the Connect With NOVA page of the college’s web site, found at nvcc.edu/about-nova/connect-nova/index.html, students will find links to all the official social media containing up-to-the-minute news, announcements and commentary from fellow students. The web site also features an events calendar listing the latest happenings throughout the college.

NOVAaccess on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and LinkedIn offers fans a place to ask questions, along with information on important deadlines and announcements, so fans can keep up with everyday college life. Facebook and MySpace are similar in that they both have wall comments and photo upload features. They also provide direct links to Important Information found on the college’s home page. Twitter, on the other hand, is a basic no-nonsense micro-blogging site that features announcements limited to 140 characters. LinkedIn focuses more on career advancement and professional networking for NOVA graduates, students and faculty. On this site users will find details about job fairs occurring at NOVA and many university transfer visits.

The NOVA events calendar shows what events NOVA has planned. The calendar is fully customizable to a user’s preference. Users can pick how they want the events displayed by clicking on Day, Week, Month or Year in the top left corner. Different formats including Grid, Category, Summary and Location views are also available.

Searching for specific events of interest is simple. Through the Advance Search system on the left side of the page, users can pinpoint a search by inputting a date range, certain category, campus location and particular keyword to make it easier to find what they want. Icons in the top right corner allow users to receive an e-mail notifying them of any changes or news regarding the event, quickly add the event to their personal calendar or e-mail the event information to a friend.

NOVAaccess and the events calendar provide all students with a constant connection to the college. This steady flow of essential information streaming online ensures no one will ever be left out of the loop.
