A Sneak Peek at Anime USA 2010

Don’t put away the costumes yet because there is one more event that will happen soon after Halloween. Anime USA 2010 will begin from Nov. 12 to 14 at the Hyatt Crystal City in Arlington.

This year’s con has an Arabian-themed dance for con participants, Sultan’s Ball. The highlight for musical performance will be 12012. According to a web site about Asian music and videos, Jpop Stop! Wiki!, they are a Japanese rock band in a visual-kei scene (one in which the group’s appearance obtains a primary focus of interest) that recently released a new album, “Seven.” On the AUSA web site, the band left a video message to all attendees saying that they are looking forward to returning to the U.S. to perform at the convention this year. Other musical guests include Clockwork Dolls and Echostream.

According to a press release, voice actors Christopher Sabat and Patrick Seitz will be at this convention. Both playing numerous roles in anime series and video games, some may know Sabat’s character roles in anime series such as Alex Luis Armstrong in “Full Metal Alchemist” and Father Tres in “Trinity Blood.” He also voiced video games such as “Metroid Prime 3” and “Final Fantasy.”

Seitz’s work in anime series includes playing Isshin Kurosaki in “Bleach,” George in “Paradise Kiss” and Luke Valentine in both “Hellsing” and “Hellsing Ultimate.” He also voiced Scorpion and Deathstroke in the game “Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe” and Arthas Menethil and Garrosh Hellscream in the online game, “World of Warcraft.”

For students who are planning on attending Anime USA 2010, the price at the door is $55 for all three days, Friday through Sunday. It costs $45 for Saturday and Sunday and $30 just for Sunday. If planning on attending with a group of friends, there’s a 15 percent discount, however make sure that the information about registration is reviewed on the convention web site.
