NOVA Day Kicks Off the Semester
The Annandale campus was bustling with activity on Sept. 15 as the students gathered at NOVA Day to join clubs, get involved with campus activities, and just have fun.
Student organizations and clubs set up tables throughout the CF Plaza where students could stop by and pick up information and join mailing lists.
Among the clubs involved were the Hispanic Student Union, Muslim Student Association, Phi Theta Kappa, Psi Beta Psychology Honors Society, NOVA Fortnightly and the Visual and Performing Arts Association.
Along with the opportunities for students to join clubs that interest them, the event had a lot of free attractions. Caricature artists, airbrush tattoos, free funny t-shirts and amazing inflatables provided fun relief for students in between classes.
The most popular attraction was the disk jockey. A dance party broke out and students showed off their break dancing moves among the large crowd that gathered.
“Students were more responsive, perhaps because we were outside next to the dancing,” said Phi Theta Kappa President Esther Clark.
“I thought it was a lot of fun. I felt like I was at a large university, not a community college,” said 18-year old Shamaila Iqebal.
