The Alexandria campus of Northern Virginia Community College officially broke ground on a new three-story 80,000-square-foot academic building on June 26. The building will replace the current Tyler Building on campus.

The awards were given this year by the Virginia Press Women for excellence in communications.

Starting this fall, new students at all campuses at Northern Virginia Community College, will be required to take placement tests and attend a new student orientation seminar.

Northern Virginia Community College will hold its spring commencement on Sunday, May 18.

NOVA Police Officer Lt. John Weinstein has been accused, along with the former mayor of the town of Quantico, of selling police service weapons that were owned by the town.

Summer music camp registration for band, strings and harp students is now underway at the Alexandria Campus of Northern Virginia Community College. The camp takes place in July with an extended-day jazz camp available.

She is working to spread awareness of the college’s offering of credit for prior learning options to students, faculty and staff.

Classes for the 2014 spring semester begin Monday, Jan. 13. However, the college will be closed Monday, Jan. 20 for Martin Luther King Day.

The conference will take place on the Alexandria campus and examine several issues. Those issues include the impact of the Virginia gubernatorial race on national, state and local politics, such as the 2016 presidential election, and how this election will affect employment opportunities in Virginia.
