Crossfit athletes undergo challenging workouts on the daily that leaves them nauseated, sore and yet completely proud all at the same time. Those who have never done Crossfit before may consider them crazy, but the workout regimen has not only shown tremendous results in the lives of those who do it but also touched the lives of people all over the county.

From pop to country to opera, NOVA Idol hopefuls brought their best tune, hoping to impress the judges.

Pitch pipe in hand, Audrey Layendecker took at moment at her NOVA Idol audition to prepare herself before breaking into a skilled arrangement of “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” That small detail set her apart from many of the other auditioners, showing her level of quiet professionalism and musical talent.

But to the ladies at DivaFit, a pole fitness studio with four locations in the Northern Virginia area, it’s just as essential as water bottles when they head to their weekly workout.

On March 23 in the Schlesinger Concert Hall at Alexandria campus, Martina Green won the college division of NOVA Idol with her performance of “Home” by Stephanie Mills. The winner of the high school division was Joao Versos with his performance of “Purple Rain” by Prince.
