If you were in the hallway on campus, chances are that you saw him – pep in his step, humming a tune, laughing, joking with friends. As a recent Northern Virginia Community College graduate and a new transfer to George Mason University, he had so much in his life to look forward to.

Students gathered in droves at the Woodbridge campus on March 28, not for a play or fun club event, but to hear about the important and often unmentioned problem of domestic minor sex trafficking. The seminar, hosted by the Wayne Foundation, was held by Jamie Walton, a sex trafficking victim, to help students understand the implications, definitions and impact that sex trafficking has on our community and on our planet.

While people may think that charity and fashion don’t always mix, the Charity Fashion Show, hosted on the Woodbridge campus on April 6, shows that clothes and a charitable cause can work together for a successful conclusion.

You know the old line your parents used to give you, the “If everyone jumped off a bridge, would you jump too?” Well, believe it or not, this should apply to fashion trends as well as major life decisions.

When people think about the 1920s, they may think of the Great Depression and the parallels to our current recession, but another big component of this time period were the parties, glamour and styles that the flappers wore. This spring, take your style cues from the women of the 1920s with a drop waist dress, glitter and fringe that can spice up any party outfit.

As adults getting an education, NOVA students come in a variety of ages and many have or are starting families. In order to serve these students, the new Office of Pregnant and Parenting Student Support (OPPSS), which is based in the Medical Campus in Springfield, will begin making visits to the other five NOVA campuses.
