The annual award recognizes one teaching faculty member in the Virginia Community College System who distinctly represents the teaching excellence found at VCCS colleges. This is the second consecutive year that a NOVA faculty member has received this award.

The Manassas campus of Northern Virginia Community College recently honored the winners of the 24th Annual Writing Contest with a ceremony featuring Laura Scott, poet and author of “Death Wishing.”

The ceremony, which is open to the public, begins at 2 p.m., in George Mason University’s Patriot Center.

After the judges selected the top five, the capacity crowd in Colgan Theater voted for their favorite.
