Road Closures and the Thanksgiving Holiday
VDOT has announced multiple lane and ramp closures for construction along with the opening of the HOT lanes. However VDOT is suspending closures in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday from Wednesday, Nov. 21 at noon, until Monday Nov. 26 at 9:30 a.m.
HOT Lanes
14 miles of new high occupancy toll (HOT) lanes from the Springfield Interchange to just north of the Dulles Toll Road on the Virginia side of the Capital Beltway/I-495 will open Saturday, Nov. 17.
BRAC Work in Alexandria
Seminary Rd. (Route 420) east from North Beauregard St. to I-395 – Single lane closed Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday 9 a.m. to noon for excavation.
Mark Center Ave. north and south from Mark Center Dr. to Seminary Rd. – Single lane closed Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday 9 a.m. to noon for excavation.
I-95 Nightime Closures
I-95 north and south from Cardinal Dr. overpass to Exit 170, I-495 – Single lane closed Monday night for duct bank work.
I-95 south at Exit 150, Joplin Rd. (Route 619) – Two lanes closed Monday night for lane shift.
I-95 Daytime Closures
I-95/395 reversible HOV lanes from I-495 to Cardinal Dr. overpass – Single lane closed Monday and Tuesday for groundwork, erosion and sediment control.
I-95 north and south between Cardinal Dr. overpass and Exit 170, I-495 – Single lane closed Monday and Tuesday for ground work.
I-95 north and south between Exit 143, Garrisonville Rd. (Route 620) and Exit 152, Dumfries Rd. (Route 234) – Single lane closed Monday and Tuesday for barrier movement.
I-395 north and south between I-495 and Exit 4, Seminary Rd. (Route 420) – Single lane closed Monday and Tuesday for clearing, test bores and survey work.
Franconia Road (Route 644) west to I-95 north – Single right lane of ramp closed Monday and Tuesday for clearing.
Loisdale Road north and south from Franconia Springfield Pkwy. (Route 289) to Constance Ave. – Single lane closed Monday and Tuesday for ground work.
Russell Rd. east at I-95 overpass – Right lane closed Monday and Tuesday for clearing.
