Summer Music Camp to be Held at Alexandria Campus
Summer music camp registration for band, strings and harp students is now underway at the Alexandria Campus of Northern Virginia Community College. The camp runs July 7-11 with an extended-day jazz camp available.
The camp is open to students ages 11-15. Students will need at least one year of experience on their instrument. They will participate in large and small group rehearsals and attend daily elective classes on topics such as garage band, jazz improvisation, guitar music, singing, composing music, world drumming, and piano.
Students will be introduced to and interact with area professional musicians. Camp instructors include NOVA faculty and teachers from area public schools. Students will perform a final concert for family and friends at 2 p.m. Friday, July 11 at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center at NOVA-Alexandria.
The music camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 7-11 in the Tyler Building at NOVA-Alexandria. The extended-day jazz camp is available from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. July 7-10.
Tuition is $375 for the music camp and $125 for the extended-day jazz camp. Payment is due at the time of application. Space is limited.
