Blood Drive at Loudoun Campus
The Loudoun campus hosted a blood drive with Virginia Blood Services on Oct. 22. “Blood is needed every day,” said Christine Homan, an account manager with Virginia Blood Services. “There’s no substitute for blood.”
With online registration so students could sign up to donate at a time convenient for them, Michelle Humphrey, who also manages accounts with Virginia Blood Services, noted the event went smoothly, and that they had a “huge, positive response” from Loudoun students. “We’re super excited to be here,” she added, especially because they are a local blood donation service, serving Virginia and D.C.
“I’ve never done it before” Johné Jones said, who is studying Liberal Arts and Business and donated blood at the October event. “I donated blood because I thought I could help someone.”
With each pint donated saving three people, Jones and other students at Loudoun saved over 100 people by donating with Virginia Blood Services.
