NOVA will hold a career fair for STEM jobs on Oct. 29.

Amid a months-long battle with administrators for editorial control — sparked by the student staff’s attempt to ban the word “Redskins” from the newspaper’s pages — the faculty adviser was suspended for two days and the editor for one month.

It said it has been buying the debts for pennies on the dollar from debt collectors, and then simply forgiving that money rather than trying to collect it.

Everest’s parent company, Corinthian, is selling this Pompano Beach campus and 84 other schools across the U.S. It looks like business as usual here at the eight-story office building, where a sign in the window still reads “Everest University, Changing Students’ Lives.”

Jeffery Corbett’s daughter is attending community college. Corbett, a fundraiser for a nonprofit, says a high school diploma just won’t get you very far. And he knows; he doesn’t have a college degree.
