NOVA Idol 2012 Winners

On March 23 in the Schlesinger Concert Hall at Alexandria campus, Martina Green won the college division of NOVA Idol with her performance of “Home” by Stephanie Mills. The winner of the high school division was Joao Versos with his performance of “Purple Rain” by Prince.

The Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra Will Give Free Concert

The Alexandria music department of Northern Virginia Community College will host the Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m., in the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall & Arts Center. All NOVA faculty, staff and students are invited to attend this free performance.

NOVA Idol Ends with Talent & Controversy

NOVA Idol 2011, the singing contest held annually by Northern Virginia Community College, was marked by a concert of great singers performing for five judges, including Tony Perkins from Good Morning America, and a venue packed with family, friends and other guests of the performers. In fact, the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall & Arts Center on the college’s Alexandria campus was so full on March 25 that, according to Meredith Aquila, secretary of NOVA Idol Planning Committee, people were turned away at the door. The center’s marketing manager, Linda Vitello, said the auditorium’s capacity is 991.
