Annandale Provost Barbara Saperstone announced she will retire from NOVA early Spring 2015.

“I do not have definite plans at this time, but I am looking forward to the future,” she said.

“Dr. Saperstone has been an important leader in NOVA’s rise as one of our country’s top community colleges,” said President Robert G. Templin, Jr. “She has led the Annandale Campus through an incredible transformation and beautification of its facilities and grounds and has been an outspoken champion of our faculty, staff and students.”

Saperstone began her professional career at NOVA as an adjunct professor teaching physical education and was awarded her 35-year pin at the Service Awards Luncheon in March.

“It’s unbelievable how the College and the community college system have changed over the past 35 years,” Saperstone said. “My grandmother emigrated from Kiev to this country and the one thing that she instilled in her children and grandchildren is the importance of an education. She felt strongly that education is the path to achieving success in American society. I have been very proud working at NOVA because we constantly strive to help our students be successful, and I want to thank the faculty and staff throughout the College for making this a wonderful place to work.”

“We will miss Barbara’s day-to-day presence as a member of NOVA’s executive team, but her influence on the Campus and the College will be felt for years to come,” Templin said.
