UPDATE: College Commencement Details Announced
Northern Virginia Community College will hold its spring commencement on Sunday, May 18 at 2 p.m. at the Patriot Center at George Mason University.
* Virginia Secretary of Education Anne Holton was to be the keynote speaker. Holton, a former judge, is the wife of Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine. However, she is unable to fulfill that commitment. Instead, funny and personable NOVA history professor Dr. Charles Errico will speak.
According to a press release, Errico began his academic career at NOVA in 1975 and is currently a professor of history and assistant dean for the social sciences at the Woodbridge campus. He received the Outstanding Faculty Award from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia in recognition of his superior accomplishments in teaching, research and public service in 2007. In addition, he has twice received the Alumni Federation’s Faculty of the Year Award and won the NVCC Educational Foundation’s Excellence in Teaching Award.
