Black History Month Celebration to be Held

The Division of Liberal Arts of Northern Virginia Community College, Alexandria campus, will present a Black History Month Celebration on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 7:30 p.m., in the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall. The event will feature the Kathy Harty Gray Dancers, students and faculty of the college reading poetry, NOVA Jazz Band, and NOVA Community Chorus. There will also be special guests — Joyce Garrett and the renowned Choir of Alfred Street Baptist Church, along with soprano Lisa Edwards Burrs, who is an internationally-recognized soprano and a professor of voice at Virginia State University.

The concert hall is located at 3001 N. Beauregard Street in Alexandria.

No tickets are required. Parking cost $6. Donations are requested.

Additionally, Dr. Edwards Burrs will present a Voice Masterclass on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m., in Room 130 of Tyler Building on the Alexandria campus.
